    A bit about us...

Nestled in the heart of Grizedale Forest in the Lake District National Park, Grizedale Mountain Bikes is one of the largest bike hire centers in the North West.  We offer safe, off-road riding for riders of all ages - 12months to 100 years+!  With a mixture of gravel tracks and technical single track we have something for everyone.  Be warned though, we are very hilly and even the easiest trail has a long up hill but don't let that put you off, your effort will be rewarded with fantastic views.

It is easy to book, the easiest way is to BOOK ONLINE otherwise give us a call on 01229860335 and we can help you.

    Standard Bike
A standard bike is perfect for the family to explore or those wanting a relaxing ride to see the scenery and explore the many gravel track trails that Grizedale has to offer, though be warned we are hilly!  The gravel tracks offer many miles of trails around both sides of the beautiful Grizedale Forest, with many uphills and exciting downhills, it is a challenge with some wonderful views to make all the effort worth wild.  For more information of the types of trails please click here.  For more information on what to do and where to go as a family, please click here.
HALF DAY £20                       FULL DAY £25
Please note that these bikes are not suitable for going onto the North Face Trail or Bridleways; if you wish to explore some of these more technical riding please look at the Premium hire bikes.

    Premium Bike
A Premium Bike is perfect to explore most of the trails Grizedale has to offer, and is a minimum requirement if you wish to explore the North Face Trail or Bridleways.  The North Face Trail is our technical single track trail through the forest.  This trail is designed for more confident riders as it is a narrow trail with rock steps, board walks, berms and other obsticles.  If you wish to have a go at this trail, but are not sure pop into the shop and we wil be happy to show you some of the easier sections to have a play on.  If you are an experienced rider or have done the North Face trail before, then we recommend exploring the bridleways which are the natural single track through the forest.  Pop into the shop for more details, or click here for more information on the trails.
HALF DAY £25                       FULL DAY £35

    Electric Bikes
The electric bikes are a fun way to explore the forest on the gravel tracks.  They have an electric motor to assist you up the hills and so making it easier to expolre more of the forest.  These bikes are perfect if you are wanting to explore lots of the forest, as they allow you to ride further.  They are also recommended for anyone who knows they do not enjoy the strain of an uphill, we also recommend them for towing a trailer as the electrics make the experience of towing much more interesting.
Please Note: no rider under the age of 14 years old is permitted to ride an electric bike.  For more information on this please visit https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules
HALF DAY £35                       FULL DAY £45
    Premium Electrics
These our our full suspension electric bikes designed to go anywhere in the forest!  All the bikes are Specialized Levo's, and are designed for the riggors of the single track.  These bikes are perfect to all those wanting a bit of a boost whist out on the trail.  A must try for all mountain bikes!
Please Note: no rider under the age of 14 years old is permitted to ride an electric bike.  For more information on this please visit https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules
HALF DAY £50                       FULL DAY £60

    Full Suspension Bike
If you are use to riding a hard tail and are looking to take your riding to the next level, then why not try a full suspension bike?  These make riding easier, and more playful.  We will help you set up the susepnsion suitiable for you, and then you will be ready to explore.
HALF DAY £40                       FULL DAY £50

    Tag-a-long and Trailers
For all thoses adventurous children who want to expolre with the family we have something for you.  From 1 years old upward we have trailers that can be towed by an adults bike.  The trailers have a full roll cage and have sppace for two children.  We recommend hiring an electric bike to tow trailers to make it easier to hit the hills.
If your child is a little big for the trailers, and is riding with stabalisers or on their own but needs help up the hills we have tag-a-longs.  These attach to the seat post of an adults bike and allow the child to pedal along with the adults!
Do you have a hardtail bike but need to borrow a tag or trailer?  This is not always possible, but we will endevour to try to help.  If we can fit our tags or trailers to your bike then the cost will be £10 for the full day.
    Children's Bikes
Our childrens bikes are either a 20" wheel bike or a 24" wheel bike. (We recommend anyone who is too small for a 20" bike to go on a tag-a-long as we are very hilly for little legs!)  Any child who is taller than a childrens 24" bike will be on a standard adults XS bike and will pay adult prices.
HALF DAY £12                   FULL DAY £20
